Lucy Rhodes
Lucy Rhodes won the prestigious title BBC Radio 2 "Choirgirl of the Year 2002" at the age of fourteen and within a fortnight was recording the first of her regular appearances on BBC1’s popular "Songs of Praise" programme. She performed live on Radio 2’s legendary "Friday Night is Music Night" and recorded numerous radio programmes including "Sunday Half Hour" and two Radio 2 Easter specials, "At the Foot of the Cross" and "Easter Glory". Following live performances on Radio 4’s Daily Service, Lucy featured as soloist on five of the tracks on the CD "The Nations Favourite Hymns" with the "Daily Service Singers".
Lucy’s performing highlights in 2003 have to include her appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, both as soloist with the Royal Choral Society and in BBC1’s Big Sing. She subsequently returned later in the year for the Queen’s Prom and was then invited to take part in a controversial live debate on BBC News 24.
Lucy was thrilled to be presented with the title NCH Yorkshire Young Achiever in the Arts 2003 at a celebrity event at Leeds United Football Club and a Katie Sheppard Award 2003 for outstanding achievement.
During 2004, Lucy performed as soprano soloist in many exciting venues, including the Royal Festival Hall in "A Night under the Stars" with Sir Roger Moore, Darius and Nicola Benedetti and the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester in the Northern Festival of Remembrance.
